Three Elements to Increase Your Learning

1. BELIEVING THAT WE CAN LEARN:

Science shows that our brain is a learning machine. It has the capacity to learn and get good at just about anything.

~  If it’s something that someone can get better at, it’s a skill.

~  If it’s a skill it’s something that YOU can learn – if you do the work, period.

~  Believing that you CAN learn is step one – and it’s the essence of growth mindset.

2. UNDERSTANDING HOW LEARNING WORKS:

~  We are built to learn from struggle, challenges, and mistakes

~  Good learners accept the struggle, as they know it is where growth comes from. Bad learners resist and avoid the struggle.

3. SPENDING TIME OUTSIDE OF OUR COMFORT ZONES:

This is where the magic happens. The more time we spend in this zone, the more we’ll grow. We call these Jungle Tiger Moments. When we believe that we can learn and understand the value of the challenges and struggle we face outside of our comfort zone – we’re way more likely to leap into the wild.

The key is to recognize the relationship of the three elements…

#1 and #2 are happening between our ears and they can prime us to do more of #3.

But. If #1 or #2 are missing – #3 won’t happen very often.
